Profile Summary

Dr. Hossain is an Assistant Professor of Pavement Engineering at Memorial University. Previously,  he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow and research associate at the Illinois Center for Transportation of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in USA, and at the Center for Pavement and Transportation Technology (CPATT) and Transportation System Solution Laboratory of the University of Waterloo. He holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Waterloo. Dr. Hossain's research interests include pavement engineering, pavement materials, and spring and winter road maintenance. He teaches mechanics of materials, highway and pavement engineering courses. Dr. Hossain has authored over 30 journal articles, conference papers and technical reports. He holds several prestigious awards including the NSERC-Canada Postdoctoral Fellowship.

Dr. Hossain serves as member of several technical committees and professional associations including United States Transportation Research Board (TRB) Standing Committees on Asphalt Sealants and Fillers for Joints and Cracks (AHD25) and Pavement Maintenance (AHD20), APSE Research Task Force, ASCE Construction Institute Technical Committee on Bituminous Materials, Transportation Association of Canada (TAC), Canadian Technical Asphalt Association (CTAA), and the Academy of Pavement Science and Engineering. He is a technical reviewer of various journals and publication organizations including Transportation Research Board, TAC, CSCE, ASCE Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering, International Journal of Pavement Engineering, Construction & Building Materials, Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering, ASTM Journal of Materials and Testing, Materials Journal, Applied Sciences, Wiley.
